THE WATER WAHALA.....OOH!! GHANA.....

How often do you get water in your area? How about in your Village,do you have a running tap? What is the quality of water there? How do you even get that water?Hmmmm! Charley!! EYE3 ASEM OOOO!!!!!! It amazes me when we compare ourselves to no other but countries that are doing bad in areas that we do better in.Did i just hear a Minister of state boast of our water system, that ours is better than the water system in other West African countries? Isn't this funny? Do we know what goes on in Singapore,Lybia,California in the USA and a couple of others? oooooh! so its better to compare yourself with those who are doing worse than you are so that you get to console yourself with your effort, however poor it may be? Sometimes am tempted to say predecessors like Osagyefo Dr.Kwame Nkrumah should be re-born.#Just my opinion. As far as water is concerned, Ghana is doing so bad and i wonder if situations will ever change when it comes to issues of good drinking water. From the attitude of Citizens to the commitment of governments in providing every household with good water.Does someone even care? I can imagine what some countries in the desert would do if they have VOLTA RIVER, PRA RIVER,ANKOBRA RIVER,DENSU RIVER, WHITE VOLTA,BLACK VOLTA,TANO RIVER,OTI RIVER,BIRIM RIVER,OFIN RIVER and couple LAKES and DAMS.So we have all these rivers in Ghana, yet we struggle so hard to get water, not even quality water but just water for our chores? We rather prefer to Dump refuse into all these water bodies or even mine minerals in them, which later results in the intoxication of our water bodies.Watching TV sometimes baffles me;Seeing animals compete with humans for drinking water, plants dry out all because there is no water for irrigation,Ghana this!!? I wonder if the issues of water matters to someone at all? What do we intend to do in our own small way to change our story in relation to water? Interestingly, we are as well blessed with so much rainfall, however this blessing rather turns into a curse sometimes,it yields Floods that destroy food crops or houses and even take lives.Sometimes you just ask yourself, are there no channels of collection for treatment? or Ghanaians are just too stubborn to have choked our drains. In singapore, waste water is refined,it is gathered, treated and processed for drinking, similar to what goes on in California.Waste water from every household is collected in different sessions and treated for consumption. So what are we doing wrong? Don't we have policy analyst in Ghana? How about environmental engineers and all those professionals who understand these related issues? When will all these change?huh!? Guess what!,we even have the SEA!.In Lybia, the sea is converted into drinking water where the salinity of the water is reduced to the bearest minimum and transported to the various consumers. So why cant this happen in Ghana?.When will Villagers stop drinking from polluted rivers? When will they have their own reservoirs? When shall we have reliable water systems? May be if our leaders who visit these locals stop carrying mineral water with them they would get to understand their situations and will steadfast progressive plans for development. This is what i think: 1.Ghana is blessed with a lot of water bodies yet Ghanaians pollute the water bodies by taking their livestock to drink directly from these bodies thus contaminating them.We also dump waste into these bodies from Industries and House holds. 2.I see no innovation in redefining our water industry;since i was born the method of obtaining water in my village has been the same.In the city, the story of water in my opinion is still the same. 3.No one cares i guess;both citizens and government. Funny enough they blame each other instead of finding ways to improve on our status. I pray someday there will be a reliable water system in Ghana. Someday i Guess....
